Sorry, but Jevon's Paradox[1] returns yet again.

If you make workers more efficient, then we won't be freed up to spend more time creating and connecting. There will be more work.

Creating more efficient steam engines didn't reduce coal consumption, it just made there be more steam engines. The second order effects of efficiency don 't work the way we think they work.
