Perhaps this is why Github still tries to portray itself as the self-sufficient start-up it once was. I think a lot of independent developers feel like you, and they tend to lean more towards the values of software freedom than shareholder value and big tech capitalism.

I just opened the front page of github.com, Ctrl-F "Microsoft" gives 0 hits.
