I think Apple would want to do it. The problem will always be regulators blocking the deal. The breakup fees would be costly. The productivity loss would be big.
Apple surely has the interest and money to buy big parts of Disney‘s movie catalog. But Disney is much more than that.
Until the recent CEO, it was mostly a park + franchising company and most of its assets are still physical.
No way Apple would buy Disney as a whole. They only need the content. Potentially, this also leaves Disney in a strategically healthy place as well and helps them focus on their original core business.
Joking aside, any acquisition of this size would take well over a year to complete. During that time, expect productivity loss from both sides. Still a decent chance that it gets blocked.
