It was their choice to take on the "money sink" in the first place. Failing to plan ahead and deliver on your promises is bad business and damages your reputation in the community as well.

Now you're just jumping to wild conclusions, all because I think RH is pants on head stupid (from both a community and business perspective) for shutting down CentOS and going back on their past promises. Essentially, Red Hat is taking a sizeable business risk by shutting down their inbound funnel's flywheel to capture as much value as possible in the short term. This screams of short-term thinking. We will see if their gamble pays off.
