I think they're using the "3P" version of "pivot", as in "Pause, Pivot, or Persevere".

Pivot definitely seems to soft a word to describe what is, generally, exactly what you said - a full startover. At least, in the context of a startup.

But then I dunno what other "P" word would work, and heaven forbid we break the catch alliteration... :-)
