I'm upgrading from a Nexus 4 to a Pixel XL and this will be the first time I've had a fingerprint scanner.

Apple is very proactive and transparent in sharing what they do to protect your biometric data (even from them)[1]. But all I've found on this Pixel's is this [2] which, while it seems pretty straightforward, isn't exactly gushing about it the way Apple is.

I'm not by any means a security expert, so I'd love to learn from those who are which, if either, is more secure (understanding that the fundamental nature of using fingerprints in this manner has issues), or if either has a clear advantage/disadvantage in terms of their implementation.
