What would the U.S. do if China builds military infrastructure in Canada (in cooperation with Canada), so that China could destroy major cities and U.S. military infrastructure within seconds?
The U.S. would argue that this constitutes an existential threat to the homeland security of the United States.
This is a valid argument, but why does this not apply equally to Russia?
Isn't it an existential threat to Russia if NATO builds military infrastructure in Ukraine or Georgia? Yes, Russia communicated this clearly since at least 2008 at the Munich Security Conference. The West/NATO didn't listen and here we are...
Except for the fact that none of the above was actually happening in Ukraine. Can you even name the specific military infrastructure in Ukraine you are talking about?
I have read all comments (there are not that many as of now) and I have not seen a single one defending the Russian government.
There are many comments comparing this censorship to the censorship that other countries are famous for having applied for a long time, and therefore it seems to me that those comments are decrying all kinds of censorship. This is only an issue for those who think censorship is good when it is applied to things they don’t like.
I think he is mentioning my comment and another one mainly, I personally decry all kinds of censorship, not only the Russian one.
Its just one just cannot be taken seriously when defending "hate speech laws" is ok when they protect things I agree with (lgbt rights), but then decry the same thing done with things I dont agree with (lgbt rghts).
The main counterargument is the kind of claiming hate speech defend "human rights" as some kind of universal moral good and "protecting vulnerable groups" but these laws dont seem to do any of those, they cynically cloak themselve in such purposes but eventually are used for nefarious purposes and to increase state overreach (see the infamous PATRIOT act).
Thanks! Yeah, I really like hckrnews.com and used it every day. I built this at first because I wanted a dark mode version and then I got a little carried away, lol.
Russia/USSR been pretty hostile to nations who don't want to join their peaceful and strong brotherhood. Hey they even invaded other communist nations just cause they decide to keep some independence.
If those "unfaithful" countries join NATO this creates problems for Russia to force them to give up their freedom.
And USSR/Russia started a fuss that NATO is a threat for them.
I think everyone is underestimating the changes that are happening. Obviously if Trump wanted a prosperous USA, he wouldn't be isolating it, and destroying the federal government and wrecking scientific research and diplomacy across the world.
but an overall poorer US with a permanent far right government under the control of a small group of rich lunatics is better for those rich lunatics.
I don't really care what he wants, but apparently tens of millions of Americans want isolationism. We have tried to make it clear that this will be an economic disaster, but they won the election and they get to make the decisions. So rich lunatics it is.
Really sorry for Ukraine, though. We knew back in November that this meant certain death for them.
On top of it - russia simply f*cking in a multiple possible ways. Its just a disaster on top of disasters.
they could simply ALLOW to land airplane on they land and hide what happen (similar to what they did with CEO of Total airplane or Polish presedent "accidents").
Plus this might save everyone on the plane, case it might had enough brake fluids and other liquids to make a safe landing.
But no their decided to sink it in the sea to hide any possible proofs.
Automatic and semi-automatic weapons work the way the do because force of the round (recoil) pushes back the bolt carrier, which a spring will then push forward again. Shot is fired, bolt carrier goes back, spring pushes it forward.
Subsonic ammunition have less charge than regular ammunition, to reduce the velocity. This also means less recoil. Combined with the spring now being too stiff, the bolt carrier will simply not move back far enough to successfully chamber a new round. So you have to manually chamber a new round between each shot. One solution is to use a light / less stiff spring that is adjusted to the force of the subsonic ammo.
Perhaps subsonic rounds that did not have enough charge to drive the slide. It looks like there may be a suppression device on the end. My first thought was home made.
Just an interesting note. Some in the media have suggested the weapon used is a B&T Station Six, a bolt action pistol. I had no idea such a thing existed. Reviewing the footage again I don't know if it is that model. The hand movement appears more chambering that cycling a bolt.
Or it could just be a single action pistol, as noted in the article. They’re not common but there are a handful of them that are relatively easy to obtain. Competitive shooters use them and it seems that Seals are sometimes issued single action pistols too.
Or someone highly motivated to make the hit a work of art. Killers are usually not very smart, or they are blinded by rage, and they make mistakes and are sloppy and incomplete about planning.
