i hate systemd it's always getting hung up on shutdown. "a stop job is running for blah blah" yea no. when i'm ready to shut down, it needs to shut down. immediately.
When I shutdown I would like a shutdown sig to be sent to my database and then continue once it gets a successful response. No one wants that to just be killed because that would cause data loss.
When I shutdown I want my filesystem synced so things mid-write don't experience data loss.
The problem is badly written scripts that keeps sending a "one more min" response. But you could override that if you actually cared instead of just whining.
Also, systemd comes with a timeout, after which it kills the app anyways, so I think you can surely configure that 90s timeout to be something like 5s or so, which then is much faster.
But as you wrote, If someone really cares, they would fix it.
PS: But what usually gets me about these 90s waits whenever I get them is that the message does not say which thing (unit, etc) is the issue. THAT is something worth criticising.
To my understanding systemd does proper job here, as it supposed to be, highlighting the issues with other subsystems - be it badly written scripts or misorder of shutdown sequence, those parts were ignored by "traditional" init systems before.
i don't fear this stuff. at the end of the day if the digital world becomes detrimental to my health i can just call up my ISP and cancel my service. good luck rotting my brain when you have no internet connection to my house.
i hope robots do take all the jobs. jobs today are terrible. they don't pay enough and you have to take orders from a class of managers that fancy themselves as feudal lords and you their serfs. so yea. good riddance to the "jobs". everything is made up in this system anyway, everyone knows it. just do crypto ubi and let the robots do all the drudge work.
They also function in a tribal manner where judeo christians do not, jewish and islamic communities help each other they don't have as many factions and in fighting as christians do. when a muslim or a jew opens a business they hire family and friends and people from their religious community, christians will hire anyone because that's what the christian religion is about, helping people regardless of who they are. it's very noble but in a capitalistic economic system it doesn't give christians any advantage.

I don't think you realize the business opportunities you're missing out on.
They aren't exclusively hiring their own, but it's human nature to trust those closer to you. I've seen this heavily reflected in the evangelical and Mormon communities, but you'd never know unless you had insight via friends or family.
EV's are still new tech. they haven't been through the cruicble of time yet. people are waiting to see how long those batteries last. it's common knowledge everytime you recharge a battery you destroy it bit by bit until it finally no longer holds a charge.
If we have a collapse there could be a civil war of sorts so wouldn't be long before the power grid goes offline, then BTC will be useless almost instantly. Bullets and canned food will have far more value.
It's happened it a few places in the third world but not on the scale it will be if it happens in the US. People aren't as docile today as they were back in the 30's when the great depression hit. they aren't just going to say "aw shucks" and retire to their shanties and eat hoover stew. people today are pissed off and armed to the teeth.
Me too. i'm getting like 3 scam calls per day now. some are from unsuspecting work from home people that have been duped in being the fall guys for the scammers, i can tell because when i tell them what they are doing is against the law and they could be fined thousands of dollars for it, they immediately crap their pants and start apologizing.
