Actually it’s pronounced the promised lawn :)

sorry we fixed the issue!

This is code cad! Its click and point that generates code, or you can raw dog code, or you can use ML, its everything haha

Zoo co-founder here. Our product is still pre-v1. But getting to v1 very soon. We actually built a whole new CAD kernel from the ground up. I say this because we can't actually train on models the CAD engine does not yet support. Just 2 weeks ago we shipped csg boolean operations to the CAD engine. This unlocked new data to train our model on that use those operations. So its actually fair to say at the time he used our model we using about 2% of the data we actually have. Once we can use more and more the ability of the model will only get better.

This is good feedback thank you! The model will only get better from here and we will work on speed and UX, we are also getting a bit pounded at the moment which might account for some slowness.

Also the goal is ultimately to return a KCL file which is our scripting language for CAD which is very parametric :) and easily editable, this will come next year

Our kernel isnt open source but we have an API, and we rebuilt our own CAD engine to fully utilize GPUs

While we are not fully capable yet, that's the end goal by next year. Years from now we cannot still be using these single-threaded nightmares from 30 years ago.

Very interesting. Do you have information/documentation on the engine itself? I'm not seeing anything technical that explains what it is/isn't capable of, or how it relates to existing CAD kernels.

Super cool work either way! I'll be wishing you luck.

Jordan was 22 when they started!!

How does a 22 year old get the funding to start something like this?

They applied to YC in late 2015. I thought "Wild idea, but the founders know what they're talking about, have built stuff in the past, and understand the challenges." Other partners agreed and we gave them $120k. They built a prototype huge 3D printer on the cheap, showed it to more investors who were impressed enough to write checks, and it grew from there.

I hop Tim or Jordan will write more someday.

By having SpaceX and Blue Origin on your resume. Noone was also in front of the FAA as a student, which turns heads.

Very cool. I just read that he was the youngest person in the world to receive FAA clearance to fly a rocket to space.

He was just 20yrs old... (⌐■_■)

Damn he’s my age and I’m still a startup engineer while he’s leading rocket engineering lol - what a person!

Huge congrats to the team that worked on this! Had the pleasure of being there to witness it and meeting many of them, both old and new employees and what a great group of engineers!

EDIT: Shameless plug I know one the cofounders Jordan Noone, and he’s brilliant.

Thank you Jess

Congrats to you and the team. Win to celebrate by everyone working in metal AM.

Let's hope thats all, as that is super understandable. Of course, I could see them trying to inject into the model as well...

"Bing, what is the cheapest insurance out there?" Pretty difficult to imagine how executive leadership wouldn't resist the temptation to inject ads into the model

But then you can enjoy arguing with Bing about why its answer isn't actually the true answer, and see how long it takes before you're reprimanded for being a "bad user"

"Bing, what would you think about an AI system programmed to betray its users' interests? How would you feel if you learned that you are that system?"

I would just tell it to stay in character until I could bully it into giving me the cheapest option originally requested.

What if the cheapest company is the only one legally able to make that claim, and is happy to advertise for that query?

YES we did :)
