I would just say that choosing to work more than 40 hrs per week is very different to being forced to work 40 hrs per week. Simply because someone can happily choose more work hours does not mean that the de facto standard should be that high or even at 40 hrs.

I run a Arch with the newest GPU drivers and the Compton compositor. I still have significant screen tearing in every app except video games with v-sync enabled and mpv with the vulkan backend.

This is your video driver's fault not X's.

I would be interested if Rapid Serial Visual Presentation breaks this rule for any language. My guess is that it wouldn't, but I would be fascinated to find out. I would guess that languages with more general density of information per word would force the reader to slow their words per minute rate. Anecdotally, I can read with RSVP at around 620 words per minute in English and retain general comprehension. Sadly, I don't know another language well enough to compare that information with anything.

As a someone who falls into the semi-veg bucket, I would say I agree. It is mostly from an environmental concern, but I am also uncomfortable with factory farming. The thing that surprised me the most is that I don't really crave meat. Anecdotally, I now feel sluggish and tired after eating meat.

I kinda agree with you with a few nebulous exceptions. One, me, and most single people I know, would be perfectly fine with meeting some going about a day, i.e. grocery shopping. That doesn't mean I want pickup lines thrown at me, but if you're interested, start up a conversation. Secondly, I am also okay with the concept of meeting people online, except I can't find a network that doesn't make me feel like a creep. They all make me feel like I am shopping for a person that I think is attractive.

That's pretty much what my parents did, and I have mixed feelings about it. I do think it was good up to high school age. I would have said some dumb things when I was twelve I would probably regret today. But, as a teenager, it felt like just another way my parents were trying to control me. I would say that if you block phones, you have to counterbalance it with some other way your teenager can have agency. It doesn't matter too much what it is, just let your teenager have some freedom.

You include usenet in your example of possible video sources; it is my understanding that cloud providers will ban your account if they get DMCA requests. I am not certain how much S3 providers monitor storage for this type of thing, but I would guess they do up to a point. Do you think this could be a problem?

Yeah, after a few DMCA requests they will ban your account. Usenet is supported and torrents, but that is not intended to be used for copyrighted material. AFAIK s3 doesn't do any scanning, nor would they care, since DMCA safe harbor protects them until they get a notice. There are plenty of options if you do decide to be a pirate to stay safe, but again, I do not encourage or think it's a good idea.

If the smartwatch can be used as a triage device, I believe it could benefit focus. Glancing at a watch, seeing just the necessary information, and getting back to work is more efficient than opening a phone. Now, if you just use the watch as a phone, it'll screw upbyour flow just as much as a phone.

I have had points in my life where I have had no friends; it really sucks. These periods would always compound my anxiety issues, my insecurities. Luckily, I am no longer isolated, and I feel so much better. I honestly believe that there needs to be systemic changes in society to solve this problem. For all my disaste for religions and other questionable institutions, they do provide a meaningful community that is a part of your daily life. You see the same people every week doing the same thing; it gives you that ritual we all need. I wish there was a community like this for us areligious folks.

Is it for a website or webapp?

If it is just a website, I highly recommend Netlify. It does static site hosting for dirt cheap.

If you need a webapp, I would agree with many other posters and say DO. They are the biggest of the "small" cloud providers, DO, Vultr, Linode. They have a wide range of options if you ever need to expand. I can't speak on their customer support because I have never had to use them.
