I experience worse IR performance adding title/headers to chunks. It really depends on the nature of the documents. The only successful RAG systems I see are ones specifically tuned to a single domain and document type. If your document collection is diverse in domains or formats, good luck.
I dont get why anyone cheers shit like this. It just takes jobs away from more people. You will just get more homeless and drug addicted people. And more rich techies. And it will make no difference to the rider - they get where they need to be either way. It's just another bit wealth transfer from poor to rich. Yet this is cheered.
Before Uber taxis were basically unaffordable for me. You had to call them and wait in queue till somebody send you one. Check if they aren't cheating etc. I think now much more people are using them due to convenience. Robotaxis can possibly expand market similar how Uber have done it.
The only real problem with the plan is will just be take advantage of. People will get meaningless easy degrees just to get a green card. I guess it's tied to employment but im actually not sure how that works. I think it should be tied to only certain types of degrees from accredited schools.
I'd assume in practice it would require a school to be accredited, because I think that's the kind of rule that the bureaucracy would instantly put into place, and that a president would never overrule because of the potential for bad press.and the fiddliness of it.
Accreditation isn't an enormous hurdle, but I've heard one or maybe two stories of schools shutting down because they couldn't make the bar.
The specific-degree requirement you suggest is probably for the best but may be politically a harder sell.
I imagine accreditation is a hard sell at this point too on the right given that the right may see a connection between government accreditation and the indoctrination they say is rampant in the higher education system, and the desire I imagine to create more religious schools that may benefit from not being accredited.
Yes they should only work for degrees at Trump University and citizenship should only be extended after they prove they can work for 4 years as unpaid interns at a Trump resort/casino.
Not only that, but actions speak louder than words. It's one thing to say a thing... it's entirely different to do a thing. Which is what Biden did, on day 1... opening the border. Even bragging about doing it in debates BEFORE that. He planned and executed this fiasco. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYwLYMPLYbo
semantic search doesn't really work. Looks nice in little POCs. With real world data it's sort of a mixed bag. Embeddings are just to general, and documents within a narrow domain (finance, medical, etc.) are all "similar"
I think there are a couple things worth noting here:
Semantic search performs well at capturing documents keyword search misses. As noted in the article, when searching for exact keywords, keyword will outperform semantic search. It is when users do not know the exact phrase they are looking for that keyword search shines.
Semantic search should only be a part of your search system, not your entire search system. We find that combining keyword search + semantic search and then using a reranker gives the best results. It is best if the reranker is fine tuned on your search history, but general crossencoders perform surprisingly well.
this book is at the top of the list of near every list of best programming books of all time. its worth reading. is it an easy read? no. its sort of like the Illiad. Not an easy read. But worth it for anyone who wants to be considered well read.
All I know is I feel amazing eating lots of leaner red meat. The nutrient content is very high (B-vitamins, zinc, etc.) and hard to get elsewhere. I probably eat 5 lbs of red meat per week. Im in my 50s, fit, and have healthy bloodwork.
I primarily eat vegetarian (eggs, and legumes for protein), but some meat every other day or so. I take supplements and ensure my diet is balanced. Something about meat and red meat in particular does make my body generally just feel significantly better though. More energy, clear headed, etc.
I've thought it might be due to in part to high metabolism. My entire family is quite slender and generally have trouble gaining weight.
