Actually it is the exact application to develop with no code. It is a clone of an existing website, where there are already 100s other clones, so it will extremely likely amount to nothing and not surpass 10 users, meaning the performance impact will not impact anyone.

I feel like that's a bit harsh and you may be missing the point if all you see in this is another clone.

There's obviously been a lot of effort put into this, and there's so much to be learned from what's being presented both from the perspective of a seasoned developer and those who aren't. The discussion above and below your comment is proof of that.

People over estimate how thick 5' circumference is

You are right it is easy to over estimate. And I was giving numbers my dad gave me so I did doubt it for a moment and had to go check. The main trunk of the tree is actually 6 foot circumference and if you actually measured the very bottom it is bigger. The bottom 18 inches angles outwards at the end making it even bigger. This is a giant tree and it was planted after the house was build and I know the age of the house is only going on 24 years. Maybe I will get a video onto youtube if you guys really like.

This is one of the ideas Jordan Peterson lectures. People don't try to make the best decision, they make the decisions this is least likely to get them in trouble with their boss.

>We now consider that to be propaganda.

We always considered it propaganda. Just like modern day advertising and marketing. Its all propaganda. They are trying to convince you to believe something (that is likely not true. ie: we have the best product)

The problem is when nobody recognizes it as propaganda anymore, like this article.

The article is primary about two Australian women who served as models for those toys.

I took a 'Proper Gander' at it and without praising Mattel I couldn't overly condemn them for it either.

1.USA.gov used to be a blind bitly redirect service. It would redirect any bitly URL.

Example: 1.usa.gov/abc would redirct to the same place as bit.ly/abc

With no authorization or whitelist or anything.

That seems to be a severe issue with usa.gov which should be fixed there (and I assume it has been), not something others should work around.

I can't even create an Instagram account with my home IP and real phone number. It says something about suspicious activity...

Hahahaa. The media sells you fear because they know it will keep you tuned in. It doesn't matter what thr current 'issue' is. They will always sell whatever will most likely keep you coming back.

News is pure entertainment. Its like a horror movie.

It's more than the media. The politicians (at least in my country, France) are using it to take much more power than a democracy should ever allow.

In the US we have seen unelected people in previously ignored roles relish the new found attention and power they have received.

Pointless lockdowns with arbitrary milestones that they are able to prescribe, daily zoom briefings where all eyes are on them as they explain “the science”.

For many, this is their 15 minutes of fame. Don’t expect them to give up that power and pseudo-celebrity easily. The attempts to scare and bully people will get more desperate as these people see their time in the spotlight coming to an end.

the most alarming thing in france is that almost everyone in the middle/upper social groups is completely convinced the government is right and that it's worth it (aka : it'll get us rid of covid).

The only people worried about constitution at the moment are weirdos, extremists, and a very small number of people genuinly concerned about human rights in their own country.

I'm more and more seing this covid period as a perfect example on how this country could turn into a totalitarian regime as long as it's for the good cause(tm). It also another example on how china is definitely becoming a major cultural influence over the world.

I believe it is much larger number of people who have reasoned concerns about the governments approach.

The narrative being pushed to us is anyone who might have a different opinion to that of the authorities is a 'weirdo' or 'conspiracy theorist'. At any protest, the media will always show that 'anti-vax, bill gates conspiracy' guy holding up his sign and lumping everyone into that group. The majority of those protesting are rational people worried about their jobs, their businesses closing, their children's education and what the economic fallout will do to basic services like health, education, infrastructure.

Same for Canada.

You just shine your headlights at them and they freeze. Spotlighting is illegal almost everywhere because if makes it so easy.

A deer had her babies this spring right in front of my window.

All day I noticed a deer checking out my yard. I had no idea she was looking for a safe spot to give birth.

I took a nap, and woke up to a wet fawn looking into the house.

It looked like she had the other one behind the fence.

My first instinct was she abandoned them, but I was completely wrong. She had her babies, cleaned them up, and she dissapears for a few hours. She does not want to bring any attention to her babies. Fawn don't have much of an odor when born, so it is to there benefit she isn't around except for feeding.

Every night she would return to her young. It was pretty amazing.

They slowly grew. The one by the window would only get up when mom came by--roughly 2x day. The babies are helpless to any predators. That is supposedly why the mom keeps them in different spots.

Anyways, they now just visit. It's a good feeling they are healthy, and seem happy.

I'd take "This place looks super safe, I think I'll have my babies here" as a compliment!

I am glad I put off my yard work this year. Witnessing this event was a high point in my life.

I remember reading in the news that at a native nation in Canada got themselves an exemption due to it being their "traditional way to hunt."

I had thought the issue was more one of governance rather than a claim of traditional practice?

The land is under shared management and one side decided to change the rules with insufficient consultation.

I am far from an authority on the subject and there may be more than one situation in play.

Not the case in this example at least, some of the judges saw it as a natural evolution from hunting by torchlight.

(I suppose spotlighting works only in the darkness?)

I had no idea.

It's why deer-vehicle crashes are so common. Deer are pretty fast, and don't have any reason to stand in a road (there's nothing for them to graze, after all). But if they're crossing the road when you come along and your headlights suddenly blind their dilated eyes...

(By the way, their eyes are more like a cats, with pupils that can dilate far wider than a humans, so imagine a cop suddenly aiming a spotlight at you when it's pitch black - and then make it several times worse...)

I hit about a half dozen of them when I was younger.

Freezing in front of the lights is a big issue, but a bigger one is that they flip out and do weird stuff based on the sight and sound of the car at twilight. I had one jump into and break the driver side window of my car on one occasion.

Yeah, you're not wrong, but that's also caused (at least partially) by poor situational eyesight.

I forgot my password.

Judges love arguments like this.

This has been tested in court as a defense. Try to guess what the result was.
