Not really, I prefer to code on my 13" MBP. I have 24" monitor but I rarely ever use it. Ability to lay back and put legs on coffee table are more important to me.
Tried something similar back when I was a student. The leaning back angle doesn't seem to work over longer than a few minutes, when you're trying to focus.
Haha. The look on that guys face just made my day.
I'd be paranoid that the monitor would fall on me. That may be good thing though as I'd avoid procrastination to get out of the danger zone as soon as possible.
I share that sentiment. A big screen doesn't mesh well with moving from one corner of the bed to another.
Virtual desktops mostly solved the area problem for me: switching between code/result/docs is just a chord away. The rare situations where switching is happening all the time account for less than 10% of my usage.
Perhaps me and many people like me. There are so many times when something funny or great happens and I wish I had recorded it but taking out cellphone is too slow.
A lot of fun stories while baking cookies and other mundane household chores when you have pets and kids.
EDIT: I won't buy this at this price point, but definitely get it at $150.
Thank you. This always bothered me as someone with Indian background. It seems like some programmer make assumptions about my code and I have to do a lot more to gain acceptance in some companies/teams.
But on other hand, I have a theory. Indian firms write a lot more code. Their code quality distribution probably is same as any other group but since there is more code, a large percentage of overall bad code comes from India.
It is kind of like some teams in a large organization write a lot of code but they are the one with the most bugs and they get punished. Another team that rarely has bugs but they don't write as much as code as others and are rewarded for introducing least number of bugs in production.
I will chip in for what I feel about the supposedly bad code quality problem. Most of the US firms which outsources to India is looking for work to be done in an unreasonable amount of time. To make my point clear, if a story takes 8 points, it should be done in India for 3 points and at 1/4 the cost & hence. Both firms (outsourcer & outsourcee) are to be blamed for this (to look good on their Q4 reports). Not the programmer.
Maybe this is late night and I need to get some sleep, but you seemed to solve a big mystery for me. Almost all of my girlfriends either freely admire another woman's breast/body or showed a great deal of jealousy. I felt they were a bit bisexual but this makes a lot more sense.
Measuring your contributions in terms of dollars IS tough. Someone at the company likely had a number for you somewhere, or at least your 'position' (since they like to think of you as being a superfluous factor, able to be switched out for any similar cog), but you won't ever see it. This is why sales people are usually the best paid people at any company next to the executives (and sometimes above them for non-public companies). When the company says 'we don't know if we can give you a raise this year' or similar, the sales person can say 'I brought you $15 million in business last year - you can afford to give me a raise that matches cost of living increases.' Hardly anyone else in a company can ever do that.
