I'm curious why it seems so many on this site still have Facebook accounts. I'd deleted mine before and it didn't stick, but I deleted it again earlier this year and haven't one single time considered creating another. I see no reason I would need a Facebook account again. I don't care to follow the activity of acquaintances.
Unless you're talking about Instagram? Even then IG has always struck me as the cooler Facebook, but now it's just a doom scrolling machine from what I can tell.
I presume I'm in the minority. But I don't really understand it. I see no need for these services anymore; they seem mostly like Trojan horses to inject advertisements into our lives.
The person you responded to didn't say anything about harm to themselves. They said there's nothing stopping them from donating even though they're aware of the PFAS contamination in their area.
And from what I understand, PFA contamination has no bearing on whether or not you can donate.
The post implied that doing a “blood oil change” was potentially a good thing. My point is, we don’t know either way, because a study hasn’t looked at that question for health outcomes. It could be doing more harm than good, the parent commenter doesn’t know.
The study doesn't show that donation is a good thing. Showing a miniscule reduction in blood markers is not the relevant variable - what you'd actually care about is: do I liver a longer or better life because of this intervention? There simply isn't any evidence that a tiny reduction in PFAS from blood donation results in any improvement in any clinical outcomes. Because we don't know either way, it's also possible that there would be harms from this - as blood donation is not entirely risk free, exposing people to syncope while driving after giving blood, skin complications like infections, or other rare issues we don't even know about.
I'm curious if there's been any evidence Novamin actually repairs enamel or "repairs" in some other way.
IIRC, it's not allowed in the states because it's not economical to prove that it actually repairs teeth, but I think my understanding is based on some internet comments and nothing else. The studies I've seen haven't proven to effectively repair enamel, I think, but I'm also not scientifically literate enough to understand the p values they report.
I used to buy repair and protect from Canada back in 2017 but haven't used it since then. I periodically check if there is any solid evidence but I haven't seen much or I'm too stupid to understand it.
Shhh! Don't let Google know about this trick. I've gotten stuck in approximately 0 doom scroll loops since disabling view history and I'd like to keep it that way.
B&W mode is great until you're trying look at photos or watch videos. I wish there was a setting in the operating system to remove color from UI elements and not videos or images. Or turn B&W on/off for certain apps, like photos and youtube.
And I guess not having color for videos is maybe the point, but I can't manage to use it at all if I can't watch videos with color.
A few months ago I played around with a bunch of iOS shortcuts to turn the grayscale mode off when I opened certain apps then back on when I closed them. It was a cute idea, I thought, but it didn’t work reliably so I quickly turned it off.
Happened after a windows update for me. I've tried to restore them, inspect the database where they should be, but they were already gone. Maybe if you have a system backup, you can find yours!
I've found this random tutorial how to mass create Edge search engines by editing the Edge database https://jeffhandley.com/2022-10-17/custom-search-engines
if you want to store your search engines in a separate file in the future
YouTube is like 10% of Alphabets profits and there are thousands of creators relying on it for a living. Anecdotal but the creators I follow all talk about YouTube giving them a much better monetization strategy than any other platform. So I don't think this will be any time soon
Twitter's recently rolled out their ad revenue sharing arrangement and it's a 20% margin (under $50k is 3%) vs YouTube's 45%. Maybe low balling the early days to build traction? Also people probably aren't consuming 1 person's Twitter the way they consume Youtube channels.
Is that really about Twitter sharing ad revenue? The page is just talking about paid "subscriptions" to Twitter creators. That seems like a business model where the revenue cut is irrelevant. Nobody will pay $5/month to subscribe to one person's tweets.
I rather disagree and think this discourse is both beneficial and necessary. This comment really feels dubious and is the exact definition of the Noble Lie.
To be fair the puzzle never explicitly states anyone would eat anything. Perhaps the lion simply can't stand the thought of being alone with a cabbage and kicks it in the river.
The key is understanding the constraints and what would be an acceptable amount of bending whilst keeping to the spirit of the game.
It's never explicitly stated that you can't take things back with you so that's your "aha" loophole. Throwing all three of them across at the same time because it turns out you're a giant wouldn't be in the spirit of the game.
"I am not allowed to leave the cabbage and lion alone together, and I am not allowed to leave the lion and goat alone together."
It says nothing about the cabbage and the goat. It would not be unreasonable to infer that you aren't allowed to leave the cabbage and the goat together, based on how goats normally behave.
Of course, that makes the puzzle unsolvable, which is why humans will catch onto it pretty fast.
4channers use Normalfag. "Normie" is the sanitized version for Redditors and Youtubers that are too afraid to use the -fag suffix. Same with the "Glowie" meme.
In that case, I think this conversation may be entirely wrong as "normie" is in no way a new term, and it's not fear keeping people from using the suffix/slur so I don't think people would go looking for a safe alternative.
