Mixing feelings about this. On the one hand a core value proper of fly is managing the complexity of a global deployment for an arbitrary number of regions. On the other hand, if I did want to manage this myself, I would probably stop around ~8 regions because that's all you really need to give almost everyone a low ping.
For my projects that are on fly (https://lastlogin.net/ and https://takingnames.io/) I'm only using 5 regions each, so the only impact for me was moving a machine from gig to gru. It took about 2 minutes to figure out what I needed to do and a couple seconds for the commands to run.
Don't have much to say here except it seems a bit sad that they're getting rid of all these regions. But then again maybe it'll result in cheaper or better service at the remaining regions.
