But for ecological sustainability gyms are a sign that current (so-called developed) society has gone completely wrong. First resources are spent that people don't move enogh. Cars, elevators, and whatever. And then resources are used that people move under industrial forms.
Personally I have never been to gym. But I reject to own a car, so getting around always requires some physical activity. Yes, I do bike at -10 deg centigrade and do walk at -20 deg centigrade. It's sometimes a bit of pain, but I guess that's the same in the gym.
